Corkagh Park Fishing Trip

As an end of year celebration a first year group went fishing in
Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, the biggest leisure angling lakes in Dublin
with Ms Sheridan, Ms Neill and Jenny. We had four really patient, calm
and helpful instructors who gave us rods , put the bait on hooks for
us and good naturedly helped us each time we caught a fish, lost a
hook or bait or got our lines tangled. All fish were returned live to
the water by the instructors who also helped us reel them in (and they
use barbless hooks which reduce injury to the fish). We had a
fantastic time and we caught lots of Rainbow Trout.

SCC Athletics 2012

Once more, Larkin students (and staff) returned with a large haul of medals and cups.
Well done to all the athletes, trainers and supporters.

Tour to Florence

Larkin students returned recently from another successful international trip, this time to Florence in Italy.

Milkshake Madness

Well done to Ms Neill's 1st year Business class who ran a mini-company selling milkshakes.
We hope fortunes were made.

Homework club

A big thank you to the volunteer tutors and staff for their support with the HW Club this term.
It couldn't have happened without you.
Students are loving it and it seems to be working!

The 1st year Homework Club will continue on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30pm to 4.45pm in Room 124.
Volunteers tutors from among staff and parents are welcome to join the club.
We could do with the help. Please contact Ms O'Higgins if you are interested.

iPad Project transforms Larkin Community College

This article was in the Sunday Business Post on 18th March.

Larkin Community College, founded in 1999, is a second level City of Dublin Vocational Education School located off Seán McDermott
Street in the heart of Dublin city, neighbouring the Department of Education and Skills.
Larkin Community College successfully launched its iPad project in September 2011 with two full class groups of first years now using iPads.
Both teachers and students agree it has enhanced teaching and learning. The students have their suite of Edco e-books on their iPads
and also use a wide range of educational apps. Parents are fully engaged in this development because it is supporting their children's
education and ensures that a heavy school bag will be a thing of the past.

The iPad project is the latest innovation in the College, after having already successfully integrated the use of Moodle across the curriculum.
The college also offers its students the opportunity to avail of three scholarships; academic, arts and soccer.
On Wednesday March 21, Larkin Community College will host Minister of State Joe Costello TD, who will officially launch the college's Green Flag.

First Year Farm Trip

A group of first years had an exciting day out at a farm, where they saw ice-cream being made and enjoyed the lovely fresh air.
