Marian's trip to Italy

When I arrived in the airport in Venice, I had to
look for a sign that said 'MB SUMMER CAMP'.
After finding the person with that sign I got introduced to a student
from Israel, who was also going to the camp to learn Italian.
That was the first student I saw from the MB INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CAMP.

The journey by car lasted about two hours until we reached where the
camp was located in Lignano.
When we arrived at the camp we were over the moon, it was a very hot
day outside and other students that were already there stared at us as
if we were Celebrities coming out from a limo but the feeling was
awesome.

MB International Summer camp offers Italian or English courses, all
Italian students went there to learn English, while other people from
different places of the world went to learn Italian.
There were people from all over the world like: Serbia, Paraguay,
Israel, Poland and the list goes on and on.

We all stayed in a hotel called 'Sole and Mare' it was well built,
always kept clean, there was a vending machine if you wanted something
to eat or if you wanted to get something to drink.

In a room there would be from 2 to 4 people sharing a room, each room
had one key so people had to either take good care of it so they don’t
lose it or give it to one of the leaders.
Losing the key meant you would pay 50 euro, it’s a big price and
that’s why everybody took good care of their key.
Each room had its own balcony so you can chat with people who are next
door to you or just chill outside.
There was also a telephone in each room in case you want to call your
parents or whoever but that was only after 7pm until midnight, nobody
actually used the telephone because there were so many activities that
kept us busy all day.

Italian people had a good sense of humour, easy to communicate with
everyone within the camp, they taught me new words in Italian that I
didn’t know before and I taught them new words in English.
I made so many cool Italian friends, who I still talk to this very day
and I can remember how many funny memories with I had with them all.
I also made friends with other people from all over the world like I
said above – Serbia, Paraguay, Israel and Poland the list goes on and
on.

Every morning we would get up at 7.30, get ready and go downstairs to
have breakfast.
School started at 9 so we all had to be there at least 5 minutes
before classes started.
Classes lasted three hours but there was a 25 minute break.
After classes we had 1 hour free time where you can do what you want
and then it would be lunch time.
When lunch was over we had about 1hr and a half free time again.
When free time was over, it would be time to go the beach, people over
16 years old could go to the beach whenever they wanted or wherever we
wanted to go but we had to let one of the leaders know first.
(The teachers were our leaders; there were 5 teachers – 2 Italian and 3 English)

At about 4pm we would get all together and go to the swimming pool,
the swimming pool had 3 types of waterslides that you can go on as
much as you wanted.
We only stayed at the swimminging pool for an hour but then we had to
get ready for tennis or football, whatever your choice was we would go
into our rooms get ready then meet with the leaders at half past 5.
Football or Tennis was from 6pm until half past 7 everyday except
Thursday because on that day we went on excursion to where the leaders
would decide to take us.

When I was there we went to the caves in Trieste, where had to walk
1000 steps to get to the bottom of the cave and see how amazing the
biggest cave in Italy was.
It was also got colder and colder as we went down the stairs, but it
was an amazing experience.
We also went to Venice for an excursion; we got the train to get there.
When we got there we walked around took pictures of how beautiful
Venice was, after that we went to a museum in Venice it one of the
biggest museums in Italy, it had a lot of amours, famous Italian
people, paintings and statues.
It was great experience and truly unforgettable.

After football/tennis we would get ready for dinner which was at 8
o'clock everyday.
When we got into the canteen we had to sit where there was a MB sign,
then waiters would come to us and ask us what we wanted to eat, there
were three courses – a starter, the meal you choose and dessert.
On each MB table there was a sheet of what they were offering what we
could eat today.

Every Monday there was a film night, we would watch a film in Italian
but people over 16 could go into town if they wanted.
Once again we had to let one of the leaders know that we are leaving
the camp to into town.
Every Tuesday night, we went to the Luna park and stay there for an
hour but when we got back from the Luna park there was an outdoor
disco starting, where we get groovy until midnight because that was
when the disco finished.

Wednesday was kind of the same as Monday, only thing different thing
was that we did beach activities like: volleyball and football on the
beach.
At night time it was time to hit town again with people over 16 while
people under 16 would stay in the camp and do activities with the
leaders.
Thursday was a big day for everyone, getting up earlier than we do
because today was excursion day and we would be gone all day.

Friday everything was back to the way it was, school, beach, pool and
more activities like football, tennis and volleyball.

Saturday was a day people who were in the camp for a week had to get
ready and there was also a disco where they played Italy’s top summer
hits.
The top 5 songs Italian people most liked were: 1.Don Omar - Danza
Kuduro, 2. Britney Spears – I Wanna Go, 3. Vaya Con Dios – Hey (nah
neh nah), 4. Don Omar - Taboo and 5. Alexandra Stan – Mr. Saxobeat
were the top songs people requested the most at the disco.
There were even room parties for people who were leaving on Sunday
morning but they were on a Saturday.

Sunday was a day to say goodbye to the people leaving the camp, while
people are leaving new people were arriving on the same, Sundays were
a chilling day if you weren’t going back to where you came from.
That day was the day we chilled the most on the beach without any leader.
On the Saturday 1 day before I was leaving the camp me and a few
others got together and sang a few songs, it was really fun because
nobody cared how you sang it was a day to remember around us.

I recommend that if any 5th Years get the chance to make a video in
Italian to do it because you never know, you could be the next person
from Larkin Community College to go to Italy.
Remember if you plan on doing a video, remember to be different and
yet original.

The place will really make you feel like you are in paradise; even the
leaders will make you feel no pressure and let you enjoy your time at
the camp.
It was a great experience that I wont forget till the world ends.
Words cannot describe Italy; it was a really good time and I improved
my vocabulary and I have more confidence to speak Italian than I did before.

The best thing was that I missed my flight on Sunday and got an extra
day at the camp.
It was great to see new people and have an extra day of seeing the
town of Lignano, partying and the amazing beach.

If there is something more you wanna know about the camp or the place,
talk to me for more information.
