Recipe:
EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE
Ingredients:
200g butter, plus extra for greasing
100g dark chocolate, broken into chunks
3 eggs
175g brown sugar
125g pot natural yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
250g self-raising flour, sieved
˝ teaspoon baking powder, sieved
CAKE TOPPING
Ingredients:
100ml cream
100g dark chocolate, chopped
- Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5.
- Grease & line a loaf tin with baking paper.
- Place the butter and chocolate in a large saucepan and heat very gently until melted. Cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs, sugar, yogurt and vanilla.
- Add the sieved flour and bicarbonate of soda and gently fold in.
- Pour or spoon into the tin.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Cool in the tin for 15 minutes, then turn out and cool completely on a wire rack.
For the topping:
- Boil the cream into a small saucepan.
- Add the chopped chocolate.
- Remove from heat and stir until smooth and shiny.
- Spoon this mixture over the cake.

Method and
Time Plan:
- Wash hands.
- Put on aprons.
- Roll up sleeves.
- Gather all ingredients and equipment before you start any preparation.
- Set up table (equipment and ingredients).
- Pre heat oven to 190C/gas 5.
- Grease & line a loaf tin with baking paper.
- Place the butter and chocolate in a large saucepan and heat very gently until melted.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs, sugar, yogurt and vanilla.
- Add the sieved flour and baking powder and gently fold in.
- Pour or spoon into the lined loaf tin.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Cool in the tin for 15 minutes, then turn out and cool completely on a wire rack.
- Clean & Tidy.
- Boil the cream into a small saucepan.
- Add the chopped chocolate.
- Remove from heat and stir until smooth and shiny.
- Spoon this mixture over the cake.
- Slice chocolate cake and serve on a plate with chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream or ice cream.
