LCC has received Green Flag in 2011 - Waste Management Theme
LCC will apply for Yellow Flag in 2012 - Equality & Inclusiveness

These programs are heavily dependent on student collaboration & peer education principles.

Students are active and fully involved in the decision making, planning & implementation of initiatives in both the Green Schools & Yellow Flag Programs.
Students work as a whole class or in groups to carry out key tasks that bring the programme forward. In 2011 TY students were divided into 4 groups with the following key tasks completed:
GSP Mascot - Highlight LCC application for GSP Flag 2011 & broader issue of waste management & recycling.
First-year Anti-litter Induction Program - LCC first year students shown anti-litter DVD, Litter questionnaire, Promotional Pens & key-rings, note/text home.
Spring Clean Event & Green Party - Collaboration with 5th class Senior Model Marlboro Street Primary School - Spring Clean of Diamond Park, Introduction to LCC recycling, Green Party & Awards to best Litter Picker
WEEE Ireland Bags for Special Olympics Fundraising & 6 WEEE Stations set up within LCC campus.
