Library News From Week Beginning 14th of October 2019 (43)

Maths Week

All first and second years have been timetabled to have fun numeracy class with their Maths teachers in the library to celebrate Maths Week. Week 1 of the Maths Stations went really well and students really enjoyed travelling quickly from table to table to try out each different problem. Each class was divided into groups of 4 and students moved to a different station every 8 minutes. Stations included Towers of Hanoi, Flashmasters,Tangrams, Height and Measure, Magformers, Connect 4 Dice game and Contraptions

Magician, Caolan McBride

We were delighted to have Professional Magician Caolan McBride with us on Friday to celebrate Maths Week with our 1st and 2nd year students. Caolan entertained us with all sorts of magic, card tricks, number squares and tricks using library books. Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed his performance and it was a lovely way to finish off Maths week. One of the 6th classes from Central Model Infant School also had the opportunity to experience Caolan’s Magic Show.

Halloween preparations

Students were busy decorating the library for Halloween and Diane in 5th Year created a fantastic BOO Book display. Look out for our Halloween book display next week.

Inktober

Students are entering amazing artwork into our #Inktober exhibition. A selection of entries will go to a larger exhibition from other JCSP Library schools in November. One more week left if anyone wants to enter..

Teen-Turn

We met for tea and cake with the Larkin girls who completed their two week technology internships with Teen-Turn. We discussed what they learned during their placements and they each were presented with a reference from their host company and a participation certificate.

Word of the week is.... CRITIQUE!

Definiton: A detailed analysis of something.

Thank you to Class 102 for delivering this week’s word!
