Book News
Lots of new Accelerated Reader books arrived in the Library last week. Jenny & Ms Neill also did a Book Buy in Chapters to get requested books, annuals, sports books and some book gifts for junior students with younger siblings - these should arrive next week.
The latest Book Buy also included several more Sarah Crossan books to keep up with demand after a great introduction to her novels by Bernadette Larkin, Reader in Residence with Dublin City Libraries as part of UNESCO City of Literature initiative. Our Book of the Week is The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan. Mr Soffe has also been busy reading to help choose a book for this year's One Book One Community.
GPO Witness Museum Visit
Today we were lucky enough to bring a group of 3rd year students to the GPO Witness Museum in the GPO, O’Connell Street. We were met by 'Tom' dressed in the uniform of the Irish Volunteers. Everyone got a headset and we were able to hear him properly as he showed us around the display about the Easter Rising which is underneath the building. There was lots of things to see and touch. There were a number of interactive games you could play and you could touch some of the pieces. A film about the Rising was displayed on a huge screen with three projectors which recreated the events in Dublin 1916 and in GPO was excellent.
