Library News Week Beginning 15th of January (4)

One Book One Community 

Ms Fallon’s 1st year class has been chosen to participate in the One Book One Community initiative. Mr Soffe attended the opening ceremony in O’Connell’s Secondary on Thursday. The book, which is being read by the 18 local schools is 19 Railway Street by Michael Scott and Morgan Llewelyn.

If any other students or staff would like to read this book or give it as a gift to a parent/grandparent or someone in your community you can pick up a free copy from the library.

Creative Writing Group

Author Rod Smith helping Creative Writing group work on their novel. Individuals are also uploading their work to Edmodo for feedback from Rod & their fellow writers.

Reading Challenge

Reading Challenge announced this week for all 1st and 2nd year students. All of these students will be a given a Reading Challenge workbook. They are required to read a book every week, then write a review on it in the workbook. Also take an Accelerated Reader quiz on the books. This initiative will run for six weeks. Prizes will be awarded for: the most books read, the best written review, the best effort made and the most improved reader. Parents are encouraged to check on their children’s progress in completing the workbook.
