Library News Week Beginning 21st October 2019 (43)
Spooky Reads
Larkin students and staff were busy promoting spooky reads through our ‘Halloween photo booth’ and to encouraging reading over midterm.
Inktober
More amazing Inktober art from Larkin students has come in this week. We have received a total of 45 entries for our Inktober exhibition in the library. Larkin staff were casting their votes all day Friday. The winners will be announced after midterm. Winning entries will be framed and will be displayed in an overall exhibition of Inktober work which will be shown in other JCSP Libraries over the coming months.
Creative Writing with Rod Smith
Author Rod Smith has been working with our students over the past few years. On Friday he brought us in a couple of copies of his latest book World War 1: When the Lights Went Out in Europe and he pointed out to us that our Creative Writing Group in Larkin had gotten a special mention in the acknowledgements. The participants in this writing group have now been invited by Rod to work on a contribution to his upcoming World War 2 book. During the coming months we have arranged to visit Poolbeg Press and The Writers Museum along with Rod.
