Larkin Students Represent Ireland at NFL Flag Championship Europe
On Monday, a one day flag football event called NFL Flag Championship Europe was held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The one day tournament brought together under 15 all girls teams from across Europe, with six countries competing, Ireland, Great Britain, Germany, France, Austria and Spain.
Representing Larkin Community College and team Ireland were ten incredibly talented young players: Halle, Ellamay, Lily Rose, Hallie Mai, Lillie, Jorja, Toni, Amelia Lily, Kayden and Lottie. These outstanding girls showcased exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship, competing at the highest level against some of Europe’s best.
For our players, this experience was about more than competition, it was a milestone in the continued growth of women’s flag football, as the sport gains global recognition and builds toward future Olympic inclusion.
As part of the event, the teams were treated to a once in a lifetime NFL gameday experience at the first of the 2025 NFL London Games, where they proudly acted as a guard of honour at the start of the game between the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings. The following day, the girls played in front of global flag football ambassadors including Phoebe Schecter (Great Britain), Mona Stevens(Germany) and Elisa De Santis (France), as well as former Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt.
Every one of our players is a champion in our eyes and we cannot wait to welcome them home for a well deserved hero’s reception!
A huge thank you goes to Ms. Gaffney and Ms. Doogan for their incredible support and encouragement throughout this amazing journey.
