Literacy Week 2025

This week, we were very excited to celebrate Literacy Week 2025 at our school, packed with fun activities to promote reading, creativity, and a love of books!

Throughout the week, students and staff were encouraged to kick off each class with silent reading time, and there were lots of exciting competitions and events to get involved in.

Junior students took part in our ‘Design a Bookmark’ competition, with winners announced on Friday. There was a Creative Writing Competition running in English classes, encouraging students to showcase their imagination and writing talent.

On World Book Day – Thursday 6th March, the whole school joined in Drop Everything and Read, taking 15 minutes to enjoy a good book. This was followed by a Whole School Video and Quiz Competition, bringing some friendly competition to the celebrations!

To add to the fun, there were photo frames in the library so students could snap pictures with their favourite books, and World Book Day tokens were available in the library to exchange for a free book or money off a title of their choice.

There were also daily lunchtime activities happening in the library for students to enjoy:

  • Monday: Reading Bingo
  • Tuesday: Scavenger Hunt
  • Thursday: Chat Café (for 3rd Years)
  • Friday: Where’s Wally?

In addition, library classes were encouraged to read books and play literacy games.

Finally, the week wrapped up with our ever popular Spelling Bee on Friday in the library! congratulations to Felix, Sofia and Whitney who excelled at the competition!

It was wonderful seeing everyone getting involved and celebrating the joy of reading and storytelling!
