Positive Mental Health Week 2026
Larkin Community College celebrated Positive Mental Health Week from 5th to 11th October 2026, with a range of initiatives and activities designed to promote wellbeing and remind students of the importance of looking after themselves and one another.
A key part of the week was a talk for all students delivered by Sonas, which provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing within our school.
Students also took part in a variety of activities throughout the week, encouraging them to take a break from their usual routines and make time for their own wellbeing. Our first year students enjoyed getting outdoors during their PE classes, taking a walk to Fairview Park. This was a great opportunity to enjoy physical activity and take a moment away from the classroom.
The school also promoted a different positive wellbeing activity for each day of the week. These included listening to favourite music, tackling a task that had been put off, going for a walk, spending an hour away from phones, writing down three good things that had happened recently, catching up with a friend and doing something kind to help someone at home.
These simple but meaningful activities encouraged everyone to recognise that small, positive actions can make a real difference to our mental health. Whether it was getting outside, practising gratitude, connecting with friends or showing kindness to others, the message throughout the week was clear: looking after our mental health matters every day.
Positive Mental Health Week was a wonderful opportunity to come together and focus on the importance of wellbeing. We would like to thank everyone who helped organise and participate in the week’s activities, with a special thanks to Sonas for their contribution.
As we move beyond the week, we encourage all our students to continue practising these positive habits and to remember that taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health.
