Sixth Year Ecology Field Studies at Dublin Zoo
Despite the chilly weather and a few frozen toes, our Sixth Year students embraced the challenge during their recent Ecology Field Study at Dublin Zoo. As part of their coursework, students carried out hands on investigations in the zoo’s woodland and grassland habitats by measuring environmental factors, identifying plant and animal species and analysing data indoors.
The day formed part of Dublin Zoo’s Ecology Senior Cycle programme, which gives students a unique opportunity to apply classroom learning to real world ecosystems while learning about the zoo’s wider conservation work. Through these experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of biodiversity, habitat protection and the importance of conservation in action.
